Spring Scarf

This has been a wonderful project from VogueSpring/Summer 2010 magazine (I would love a subscription if anyone wants to give as a gift). I was able to pick up this project here and there once I learned the patten. Interesting enough to keep me busy (easy to do), and a great piece to work a little at a time since the pattern repeats itself.

Worked in Katia Samba Yarn, a fun array of spring colors emerged... to go with just about anything!

This one is going to go to my sister- for her B-day a few weeks from now. She might even see this post before getting the gift! I hope she likes it :-)

I had a lot of fun photographing this piece, as you can see. It has the ability to go just about anywhere...

Halfway through 2010

GOLF CLUB COVERS

It has been a LONG time since I last posted to my blog. I can't believe that it is August of 2010 already! With the new position I took on at work last fall I have been quite busy- and not knitting as much. I do have a few fun completed projects to catch everyone up on though!

Most Recently I was commissioned ($$$) to make a set of personalized head covers for a member to give to her mother. They were to be all the same color with the same initials. I decided that in order to tell the clubs apart they needed different adornments on the top of each head cover. The gift was delivered last week- and it was relayed to me that she LOVED them! Another request was placed for more head covers for the member herself!

BLANKET FOR ZOE

I saw this pattern in the Debbie Bliss The Baby Knits Book. It was truly a fun pattern to knit, and after the first row of letters I started to grasp the concept behind the pattern, which made it much easier. Towards the end it was a bit heavy to work with, but definitely worth the time and energy. An educational an warming tool wrapped in one blanket!

A few months later I was blessed to have Miss Zoe visit the house, and she brought the blanket along for her afternoon nap!

July 4th

Speaking of the 4th of July... We went to LA to visit with friends and attend a baby shower! Little Teddy is getting bigger by the day, and I know we are all excited for his arrival :-)

Of course, I had to make something for him, and I found this great pattern for a little knited elephant. It was fun and quick to knit, but had quite a bit of sewing to do after all the pieces were finished. Definitely worth the effort! Chris was very reluctant for me to give this away (secretly I think he wanted it for himself).

The shower was FANTASTIC! Thanks to everyone involved. Great friends, delicious food, fun gifts, cabana boy giving massages.... what more can a woman ask for? the only snafu was a sign posted out by the pool.


We had a wonderful evening on the 4th, going down to the fish shack in Malibu For dinner. I had some of the freshest fish I have had in a long time! We topped off the evening by sitting on the beach and watching the fireworks. They were amazing, but could not compare to the moon reflecting off the incoming tide.


What wonderful memories we will all have of this fantastic weekend!

Tank for Cindy

I had to wait to post this, seeing as I sent it as a gift. (For those of you who remember, I made the mistake of posting images of a present before sending it, and the gift was seen before it arrived!)


Cindy had requested a tank a while ago, and seeing that she recently got inked on her shoulder, I thought this would show it off nicely. This is yet another pattern from knitty.com, Coachella (interestingly, I saw a sign for a town called Coachella on our trip to LA over the 4th of July- I wonder if there is a connection?). It was a fairly simple pattern. Fun and quick to knit. The trick was sizing, how do you size something for a person that is not there? I just guessed... turns out that it is a little snug, but I think she may be able to block it to stretch it out if she wants.

I knitted this tank with meimei bamboo yarn. The yarn was fingering weight, so I had to knit with double strand to get the weight necessary for the pattern (and for my sanity). Loved the way the bamboo knitted up, it had a beautiful sheen and wonderful drape.

Already beginning on plans for one of these for myself!

Sponge Bob

This is probably my first full-on design! I created it using a picture I downloaded, and am fairly pleased with the results! I think it really looks the part.
